Charlotte H. Benge

Charlotte “Hope” Benge age 74 of West Chester, OH departed from this life on November 19, 2018 to be with the Lord. Charlotte was born November 3, 1944 in London, KY the youngest of 4 girls, to Bertha (Hale) and Chester G. Benge. Along with her sisters Naomi, Polly, and Frances she grew up helping out on the farm and later working alongside her mother at the Benge store on route 192. She graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1963, taking her first job as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone. She lived many years in Dayton, OH, London, KY, Seminole, FL and most recently West Chester, OH. Failing health left her nursing home bound for the past several years. She was a member of Hart Baptist Church and had many fond memories, particularly of the Wyan family including Polly and William C. She accepted the Lord as her savior in her youth and her love for Jesus never wavered. She often said the Lord sustained her through the many trials of life she faced. Those who knew Hope will remember her sweet, gentle spirit, her shyness, her love for all animals (especially her dogs Tiger and Humphrey), her collection of owls, her love of country music (Waylon Fan Club Member), her beautiful blonde hair, and her deep love for her mother Bertha and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Bertha and Ches, her sister Naomi “Tiny” and her sister Dr. Polly. She is survived by her sister Frances Steinert; her nieces Rita K. Johnson, Nita (Jeff) Yaw, and Gina (Dan) Dutro; nephews Dennis (Joyce) Moore and Bruce (Maureen) Moore; great nieces and great nephews Jared (Codee) Yaw, Rachel Yaw, Wesley (Swaleha) Carlson, Grant Dutro, Kendra (Tony) Beasley, and Jennifer (Garry) Marcial and their children Elin and Josiah. A memorial service to honor her life will take place in London with burial following in Wigginton Cemetery at a later date. “We do not grieve as those without hope” 1 Thessalonians 4:13.
