They say only the good die young, and Chris Xeil was good personified. You would be hard pressed to find a more loving, hardworking, loyal, and generous person. A lovingly devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and niece, Chris Xeil cherished nothing more than her family. Her life was forever changed when she met her husband, Doug, and instantly became a mother to Philip and part of the Stubenrauch family. Even more thrilling, was when she gave birth to beautiful Lucia – Chris Xeil’s carbon copy. She was always proud of everyone’s accomplishments, no matter how small, and you could often find her bragging about each and every one of her family members. From a young age, Chris Xeil loved Lyons family vacations to the beach, a tradition she kept alive with her own husband and children. Her next favorite thing may have been cheering on Cincinnati sports teams, especially the Moeller Crusaders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds. As a lifelong West Chester resident, she was ecstatic when she built her dream home on the family farm in West Chester, with horses in her backyard, and her parents just next door. Chris Xeil had a thirst for knowledge and was proud of her educational background. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and continued on to Miami University, where she was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity and Miami’s Equestrian Team. While at Miami, her studies took her overseas to Regents College – London. From there, she went on to receive her MBA from Thomas More University. Extremely dedicated to her career and community, Chris Xeil’s education helped lead her on a path as a diligent public servant establishing herself as a dynamic economic development professional. Chris Xeil left an indelible mark on all that she touched – people and communities alike. It’s difficult to drive around Greater Cincinnati and not see a project or development that Chris Xeil had her hands in. Chris Xeil found joy in helping others succeed, especially small, family businesses. So successful was Chris Xeil in her career, that she was awarded Forty under 40, Women of Excellence, and numerous other awards and accolades. Chris Xeil’s loyalty knew no bounds. She collected friends, and her collection was extensive. Whether from youth sports, school, work, church, or community involvement, once you were a friend of Chris Xeil’s, you were a friend for life. She had an amazing knack for seeing the good in others, and helping others see it too. Always supportive, she defended her friends vigorously and continually made herself available to provide any help or resource that they needed. Above all, Chris Xeil was generous. Whether it be her time, knowledge, or connections, she was always willing to give, limitlessly, without expecting or wanting anything in return. If you were a friend of Chris Xeil’s, you know she was always there for you to talk and help you through difficult times. Throughout her adult life, Chris Xeil volunteered for many charities, campaigned for countless politicians and causes, and served on several non-profit boards. Even in death, Chris Xeil kept giving. As an organ donor, Chris Xeil gave the gift of life by donating her lungs to a recipient in need. It's hard to reduce a woman of such magnitude to just a few hundred words. In Chris Xeil’s too-short 49 years on this earth, she accomplished so much. She leaves behind a tremendous legacy, but most importantly, she leaves behind a heartbroken family. Chris Xeil is survived by her husband, Douglas Stubenrauch, children, Philip Stubenrauch and Lucia Lyons Stubenrauch, parents, Robert and Bea Lyons, siblings, Billy Lyons, Bobby (Robynn) Lyons, and Kara (Michael Pfander) Lyons, an uncle, numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Roberto Araiza & Luz Araiza and Robert Lyons & Katherine Lyons, and cousin, Bryan Reyna.
