Donald Clifford Hegner age 87 passed away peacefully at his home December 6, 2018 surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Don was born in Wyoming, OH July 31, 1931 and was the son of Herbert L. and Hazel (nee Dearwester) Hegner. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Annette Hegner who passed away August 2, 2016. He is survived by his children Kathy (Lorenzo) Escriche, Becky (Randy) Walton, Brenda (Tim) Houston; grandchildren Sonia, Bryan (Cara), Kristy, Eric, Brad (Laura), Sarah, Donny (Shelly), Chris (Stephene); great grandchildren Ashley, Brooke, Nathan, Aiden, Carson, Tori, Kristen, Jordan, Heather, Dakota, Raylee Jo, Charlee; great great grandson Jayce; brother Robert (Pat) Hegner; brothers in law Bill Watkins, John (Maxine) Watkins; sister in law Carolyn Baker and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Don graduated from Wyoming High School in 1949. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 aboard the USS Boxer Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. He met his wife Annette in 1949 and they married on December 20, 1952. After leaving the service Don worked for Meyer Dairy in Reading, OH. Later he worked for the US Post Office in Forest Park, OH, retiring after 26 years of service. Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He never met a stranger and loved socializing with his family and friends. He enjoyed being a member of the Fairield/Hamilton Sports Car Club in the 1960’s. He also found great pleasure participating in activities at Partners in Prime in Hamilton, OH. He particularly loved meeting up with his buddies weekly in the train room and occasional lunch outings with them. Visitation at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Monday December 10, 2018 from 10AM-12NOON. Masonic Service with College Hill Lodge #641 and Funeral with Pastor Joe Payne officiating, to follow at 12noon. Burial to follow with full military honors at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
