Ella Ruth Smith

Ella Ruth Smith (nee Lacy) went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 24th, 2018. Born Sunday February 10, 1929 in Ripley, OH. Married to Eugene Arthur Smith on March 31, 1951, in Cincinnati, OH. They have 3 children, Denise (Edward) Dodd, Steven (Joetta) Smith and Vicky Campbell. She was a 1946 graduate of Seaman High School, graduating at the top of her class. One of twelve children, the 4th oldest and oldest girl, she grew up in Adams County, OH. Ruth is survived by her children, siblings Millard Lacy (West Union, OH), Edna Chaney (Winchester, OH), Betty (Bob) Hoop, Peebles, OH, Johnny Lacy, (Winchester, OH), and Mary (Lannie) Farrell (Orient, OH); as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ida and Ernest Lacy, brothers, Donald Lacy, Eugene Lacy, Charles Lacy, Edward Lacy, Thomas Lacy and Robert Lacy; as well as grandson Steven Dale Smith II and son- in- law Kevin Campbell. She worked for and retired from Mason Presbyterian Church as the church secretary, and had previously worked for Augsburg Lutheran Church. Ruth was saved at the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene on August 27th, 1967 and faithfully followed Jesus the rest of her life. Ruth loved to tend to her flower garden, loved to cook and enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday November 29, 2018 at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield. Additional visitation from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM on Friday November 30, 2018 at the funeral home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM Friday with Pastor Dan Burris, officiating.
