Harold Wayne May

Harold Wayne May age 73 of Lake Helen Fla passed away peacefully on May 13, 2018. Dad was born January 19, 1945 in Batesville, Indiana to Albert and Lillie (Spurlock) May. He lived most of his life in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1963 where he was a four-sport athlete. Dad worked many years in law enforcement in various capacities. He started his career as a sheriff’s deputy for the Butler County Sheriff’s Department in 1966 and worked his way up to rank of Captain and Jail Warden. He was proud to be in law enforcement and was the first officer in the Sheriff’s Department to graduate from the FBI National Academy. Soon after, he organized and trained the first Butler County Swat Special Weapons and Tactics Team. In 1983, he was appointed Fairfield Township Police Chief. Later in his career, he worked at General Electric, Lebanon Correctional Institute and General Motors. He retired from General Motors in 2006, and in 2008 moved to Lake Helen, Florida, enjoying the warmth of the south. Our dad loved to trail ride with our horses, go camping, fishing and hunting. We spent many years on the road heading out West in our Winnebago making great memories with him. Dad is survived by son, Tracy (Linda) May, Haslet, Tx; daughter Tari (Lance) Clayton, Liberty Township, Ohio. Grandchildren Tanner May, El Salvador; Katie May (Iwan Llyr), New Zealand; Jacob, Rylan and Ashlyn Clayton, Hamilton. Also surviving are sisters, Lana Kruse and Pamela Long, and nephews Larry Wayne Powell and John May, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John May, Sr. Visitation will be on June 2, 2018 from 9:00AM until the time of the celebration of life service at 10:00AM at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield with Pastor Paul Hurst officiating. www.websterfuneralhomes.com
