ORBITUARY FOR MFON HELEN BOMKI Mfon Helen Bomki AKA Mummy the Best passed on to glory on Wednesday March 27th at Cincinnati, Ohio. She was 66 years old. BIRTH AND EARLY LIFE Mrs Mfon Helen Bomki was born in Nseh, Bui Division to Pa Simon Kidze and Ma Monica Kibong on the 10th of October 1952, as the fifth out of seven children (4 girls and 5 boys). Greatly loved by her parents and siblings, she grew up in an environment that helped her see every obstacle as a stepping stone and all barriers surmountable with the right combination of prayers, hard work and commitment. EDUCATION & TRAINING Helen attended Primary School in Presbyterian Schools Ro-Beta Nseh, and Kishong, Cameroon respectively from 1960-1967. She obtained her First School Leaving Certificate and further continued to Presbyterian Women Teachers Training College (PTTC) Mankon, Cameroon from 1969-1974 where she obtained her first Professional Certificate- the Teachers Grade II Certificate, which propelled her into Professional service as a Teacher. 1983 – Teacher’s Grade One in Buea 1994 –ACP, Great Britain 1995 – LCP, Great Britain 2009 – Bachelor of Education in Food Science & Nutrition, BUST Bamenda 2012 – Master of Education in Food Science & Nutrition, BUST Bamenda PROFESSIONAL LIFE Helen was a great and excellent teacher and lecturer. From 1974 through her official retirement from government service on the 10th October 2012 and beyond, she served tirelessly and enjoyed the rare privilege of moulding young minds and shaping future leaders. Her Professional Career took her to; • Government Nursery School, Lobe Estate • Government Primary School, Lobe Estate • Head Mistress of Domestic Science, Lobe Estate • Government Nursery School, Wum • Head of Department Government Technical College (ENIET), Mbengwi • Presbyterian Teachers Training College (PTTC), Mbengwi. • Government Teachers Training College, Kumba • Government Technical College, Nkambe • Government Technical College, Ndu • Head of Department Government Bilingual Technical High School, Bamenda • Comprehensive High School, Bambui (Part time). • Star Light College, Bambui (Part time) • Assistant Registrar Bamenda University of Science & Technology (BUST), Bamenda • Higher Technical Teachers Training College (ENSET), Bambili • While in the USA, she taught at the Kiddie’s Academy Westchester, Ohio State. SOCIAL LIFE Helen constantly harped on the importance of ‘living with people’, being part of the community and contributing actively to the wellbeing of other members of the community. This was evident in her life as she founded, held membership and chaired many associations, committees and groups. Her friendly and engaging personality, quick wit and sense of humor were always on full display immediately she walks into a room. These and many other qualities could be seen in her early leadership roles in both Church and local community as she served as: • Presbytery Secretary Christian Women Fellowship in Ndian Presbytery. • Church Elder Presbyterian Station Congregation Mbengwi. • Congregational Treasurer Presbyterian Church Tubah • President Lamnso Choir PC Tubah.

MARRIAGE & FAMILY LIFE Helen married the love of her life and best friend, Mr. Mfon Patrick Tume, on the 24th of May 1975 in Presbyterian Church Kikaikelaki, Cameroon; a blessed union of 44 years further endowed with seven blessed children who she each had a special nickname for (“Taah” for Jude, “Lilen and Ben” for Bernice, “Ya-Baah” for Olive, “Ehh” for Elvis, “Ma E” for Caroline, “Cinderella” for Padeline and “Boyyy” for Emmanuel. Your nine grand-children and counting will all miss their Grand Ma Quick Action. Mummy the Best, we have no words to describe the void your sudden departure has left in our hearts. Helen was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend jackpot. The best there is and the best there ever will be! She leaves behind her best friend Pa. Mfon Patrick Tume, children, grandchildren, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends to mourn. Fare thee well Shining Star aka Mummy the Best, Quick Action, Takeover Spirit, Entertainer, Organizer and Giver. We love you but God clearly loves you more. Say hello to grandpa Simon, grandma Monica, Ya Sheh, grandpa Mfon, Aunty Esther, Brother Kilian and Sister Anna for us. Till we meet again to part no more! Visitation at Trinity Presbyterian Church 6081 Ross Rd Fairfield Friday April 12, 2019 from 10AM until the time of the funeral service at 12NOON. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The Webster Funeral Home, Fairfield, is serving the family.
