James M. Turner age 91 of Hamilton passed away Thursday January 23, 2025. He was born August 2, 1933 in Talbert, Kentucky the son of the late Charlie Turner and Alice (Deaton) Turner. Mr. Turner was married to Lillie Maxine Turner and she preceded him in death in 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during to Korean War. He retired after 30 years of service at the Ford Motor Company and the day after retirement he and his wife Maxine packed up their motor home and headed to Florida. He was the coach and pitcher of the 1968 Hamilton City Softball Champion Plaza Chef team. He also coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for many years. Mr. Turner was a shuffleboard champion and he enjoyed golfing with his brothers-in-law Ralph Hazelwood and Jimmy Willis. He was also a leading harness racing driver at the Lebanon Raceway. He is survived by his son Jim “Grumpy” (Jalah) Turner; grandson Seth Turner; and his sister Margie (Ed) Mayer. Mr. Turner was also preceded in death by his siblings Nellie Harbin, Gladys Morgan, Nancy Smallridge, Luther Turner, Susan Martin, Hallie Pickering, and Sally Risner. Visitation at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield on Tuesday January 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Tyler Green and Pastor Josh Willis, officiating.
