Joanne Marie Schiller

Joanne Marie Schiller, 88, of Fairfield, Ohio, died on February 28, 2021, at Majestic Care of Fairfield. She was born August 31, 1932, in Blue Island, IL, the youngest daughter of the late Robert and the late Freida (Fandrey) Breese. She was a 1951 graduate of Lindblom Technical High School in Chicago and did secretarial work downtown before she wed Kenneth P. Schiller on June 26, 1954. After her marriage, she became a stay-at-home mother, with the family settling in Villa Park, IL. When both her sons were of school age, she returned to secretarial work for Beeline Fashions in Bensenville, IL. After the family moved to Fontana, WI, in 1970, she worked for Allied Music in Elkhorn. In 1996 Joanne and Ken retired to Venice, FL, where they lived until 2018 when they came to Fairfield to be near family. Alongside her husband, Joanne was active with the VFW in Addison, IL, and in Venice. In later years, after Ken joined the Marine Corps League, they both were active volunteers with the annual Toys for Tots campaigns. Joanne and Ken were married 66 years until his death in 2020. She was a loving sister to the late Mildred Haney and the late Marjorie Luner. Surviving are two sons: Robert (Heidi) of Fairfield and Mark of Maple Grove, MN; four grandchildren: Barry (April) of Tucson, AZ, Evan of Bowling Green, Megan and Olivia of Maple Grove; and two great-grandchildren: Casey and Katelyn of Tucson. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation or memorial service. Arrangements are by THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME in Fairfield. Her cremated remains will be interred at Dayton National Cemetery with her husband. Memorials may be made to Toys for Tots at www.toysfortots.org/donate.
