John F. Fischer

After a short illness with pancreatic cancer, John Fischer passed away peacefully at home with his family at the age of 78 on July 19, 2021. John was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 24, 1942 to the late Arthur and Kathryn (nee Hilz) Fischer. He attended Hamilton Catholic, Hamilton High, and Garfield High before entering the US Marines. After 4 years in Marines, he entered a very successful career in the banking and real estate industry. He served as President of the Fairfield Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow, President of the Fairfield Chamber Commerce, President of the Hamilton-Fairfield-Oxford Board of Realtors, President of the Cincinnati chapter of the American Institute of Banking. He spent 22 years with First National Bank of Hamilton, Ohio and 26 years in real estate with Remax. He attended First Baptist Church in Milford. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Hewitt Fischer, his children Anita Fischer Minnis (Glen), John R. Fischer (Nita), Col. Steven Fischer (Nicole), and Angie Fischer O’Farrell (Patrick) and their mother Carol Fischer; step-sons, David Hewitt (Samantha) and Steve Hewitt (Marysabel); grandchildren Gracie, Olivia and Maxi Minnis, Meghan Mendoza, Steven Jr., Austin, John V., Hannah, and Lily Fischer, Shelby Mills, Shea and Caitlin O’Farrell, Elise, James, Tom and Logan Hewitt; great-grandchildren Adrian Mendoza and Maddie Mills; sisters Pat Tipton and Helen Miller, and a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was also preceded in death by his siblings William and Mike Fischer and Mary Forman.
