John W. Stewart age 87 of Hamilton passed away Sunday May 6, 2018. He was born August 27, 1930 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, the son of the late Andrew Frank and Anna (Sams) Stewart. Mr. Stewart was a 1948 graduate of Hamilton High School and was a retired machinist at Hamilton Tool Company. On July 1, 1949 in Hamilton he married Virginia L. Wilson. He was a member of the Allison Avenue Baptist Church, the Hugh Bates Masonic Lodge #686, and the Hamilton High Twelve Club #414 where he served on several committees. Mr. Stewart was elected to Hamilton City Council and served from January 1, 1980 until December 31, 1983. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Virginia; one daughter Deborah (Dr. Randy) Stinger of Cincinnati; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Robert) Truax, Joseph Stinger, and Thomas and John (Megan) Stewart; three great granddaughters: Victoria Stewart, Ada Truax, and Katherine Truax; and one brother Joe (Doris) Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his son Thomas Stewart, two sisters Mary Leona and Edna Jean Stewart and his brother Frank Stewart. Visitation at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield on Saturday May 12, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Masonic Service at 11:30 AM.
