Joyce Marie (Titta) Zugelter, 80, of Fairfield Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband Richard Zugelter; three children Jeff (Lori) Zugelter, Cindy (Dave) Booker, Christy (Sherri) Zugelter; four grandchildren Alex Zugelter, Kevin Zugelter, Alicia Booker (Matt Guion) and Michael Booker; one Great Grandson Thomas Baron and one sister Debra (Dan) Knorr.
Joyce was born December 14, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio; the first of two children of the late Paul and Evelyn (Corbett) Titta. Shortly before graduating from Mother of Mercy High School in 1961, she met Rich the night of her Senior Prom, and their lifelong love for each other became one for the storybooks. Joyce and Rich were married on March 17, 1962, and they both would say they were blessed by the luck of the Irish that day. Their 61 beautiful years of marriage were filled with love, dancing, laughter, family, friends, travel and sharing their joy with those around them. They enjoyed four cruises and numerous getaways to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. When Joyce and Rich discovered the Department 56 Dickens Village Collection, they joined the Queen City Villagers and began setting up displays of their own during the holidays, their home became a Christmas wonderland.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joyce absolutely cherished her family. She was always there for them to show support, lend a caring ear, or give a loving hug. Despite enduring decades of severe chronic pain, Joyce showed to all around her the incredible depths of her strength, bravery, and faith; she refused to give up and kept fighting to have extra time with her loved ones.
Joyce was blessed with many close friends who enriched her life as she did theirs, making many lifelong friends as a member of the West Chester Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the West Chester Ladies Card Club. She loved and excelled at Cross Stitching, as a founding member of the Queen City Sampler Guild she spent many hours stitching samplers and Christmas ornaments for friends and family. Joyce retired from the Davey Compressor Company in Blue Ash, Ohio where she was a military contract administrator.
During her final years as her health declined, her faith never did and she continued to make deep connections with those around her including many care givers. The family thanks Lindsey, her nurse from Hospice of Hamilton, for the incredible care and empathy she provided during the past 17 months and all the staff at the Hospice of Hamilton. You made her journey one of comfort and dignity.
Family and friends are invited to attend and remember her in a way that honors her spirit and faith. Visitation will be held Thursday December 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Ave, Fairfield, Ohio with Pastor Mark Gregory officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
