Larry A. Glass age 77 of Fairfield, Ohio passed away Friday August 5, 2022. He was born December 10, 1944 in Georgetown, Kentucky the son of the late Tolbert and Fannie (nee Pullen) Glass. He is survived by his wife Linda (nee Smart) Glass; two sons Brian (Kathryn Swartz) Glass and Darren (Emily) Glass; four grandchildren Marley, Weston, Zoe, and Mackenzie; one sister Betty (Billy) Dalzell, and one brother Danny (Ginger) Glass. Mr. Glass was also preceded in death by his sister Judy (Wayne) Lanter. He was known for being gregarious, humorous, stubborn, sensitive, loyal, generous and loving. He was always present for anyone in need and had the keen ability to see positive qualities and raw potential in others (and even better at helping them achieve their potential). If you knew him well, you know he loved five things intensely… 1. His family and friends. 2. Finding “deals” at garage sales (and flea markets), and then giving others “even better deals” a year or two later. 3. Watching University of Kentucky basketball games. 4. Anything and everything about baseball (especially coaching). 5. Telling stories about baseball that “became better” each time they were retold; talking about how much money he was going to make on the three broken weed whackers he just got in an “amazing deal;” talking about his children and grandchildren; talking to anyone who would give him a captive audience. His love for storytelling came from the many years he had spent as a full-time coach, teacher, and administrator in the Lakota Local School District. He spent more than 40 years coaching and earning the respect of many as one of the top travel baseball coaches around the country. Throughout those years, he won four National Championships, coached dozens of players who played on a professional level and is responsible for or inspired many others who have become coaches themselves. The man loved the game so much that he gave up sleep for years to be MLB Hall of Fame sports writer Hal McCoy’s personal driver for the Cincinnati Reds. He loved to watch from the press box and then analyze every play with Hal on the way home. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, a Kentucky Colonel, and a proud member or the Lebanon Masonic Lodge.
