Lora J. Deering

Lora J. Deering age 89 of Fairfield passed away Saturday January 6, 2024. She was born November 30, 1934 in Hillsboro, Ohio the daughter of the late George B. Cox and Margene Sanders Cox. Lora was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend known for her love of music, animals, gardening, china painting, and life. An accomplished organist and pianist Lora was fond of playing and teaching music to her three children and listening to music throughout the day. Her kindness to all animals, especially her cats, brought joy and laughter to the family and displayed to everyone her love for all creatures great and small. She loved to plant flowers in the Spring and over many years planted, tended to and harvested vegetable gardens with her beloved late Aunt Leila Sanders in Leesburg, Ohio. A wonderful country cook and baker of pies, she always brought smiles and gastronomic satisfaction to family gatherings. She loved her family, her home, her cats, and most of all her husband Charles Robert Deering, her high school sweetheart, who lovingly and patiently cared for her many years during her slow declining heath. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on December 20, 2023! A true testament to enduring love…She will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband she is survived by her three children Daniel (Wendy) Deering, Charles Randall (Michele) Deering, and Carrie (Bill) Hannon; and two grandchildren Elizabeth Deering and Benjamin (Sonja Thams) Deering. Mrs. Deering was also preceded in death by her six siblings Jim, Roger, David, Donnie, Bonnie, and Stephen Cox. Visitation 6-7 PM Friday January 12, 2024 at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield.
