Mark S. Smith

Mark S. Smith, age 66, of Hamilton passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Hospice of Hamilton. He was born on April 23, 1956 in Anderson, Indiana to Elzie Smith and the late Lula Smith. He retired in 2021 as a teacher at Wilson Middle School where he impacted the lives of many students and colleagues (Banana 7). Prior to his calling to teach, he worked as a baker, a realtor, and salesman. Mark previously owned Famous Fast Fred’s Pizza as well as Varsity Pizza in Oxford, Ohio. One of Mark’s most iconic moments was the time he wrestled Caesar, the 900-pound traveling black bear. Mark had a variety of interests that included riding his motorcycle, driving his Corvette, camping, playing softball, and bowling, to name a few, but above all, he was an avid golfer. For many years, he was the head coach at Hamilton High School for the boys’ varsity golf team. He also played golf as often as he could, taking countless golfing trips with his buddies. He had many golfing friends that meant the world to him. He was an active member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society and recently joined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Mark’s numerous interests were only surpassed by his love of family and loyalty to his friends. His love of family defined him as a person. He is survived by Cindy, his wife of 40 years; two daughters, Ashley Oldfield and Tori Smith; four grandchildren, Austin Jewett, Brayden Jewett, Cooper Oldfield, and Delaney Oldfield; his father, Elzie Smith, his brother Derek (Becky) Smith, a niece, Stephanie Smith, and two nephews, Adam Smith, and Alex Smith. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Hamilton Christian Center 1940 Millville Ave, Hamilton, OH 45013 from 12:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3:00PM with Pastor Curtus Moak officiating.
