My sincere condolences to Merle's family. He was truly one of the friendliest, most caring souls around. I knew that he made Christmas cookies every year, but nothing could have prepared me for the reality of what "I bake Christmas cookies" meant when I walked into his house the first time! There were cookies and other various treats in EVERY room, on EVERY surface. He just adored the season and shared that spirit with everyone he met. He was such a wonderful guy and will be missed.

My condolences to the family. Merle was loved by so many. He always made his students, coworkers and friends feel valued and special. I had the good fortune of working with him at Delta Air Lines. He went above and beyond and would occasionally make a special sweet treat for his classes. What delicious fudge! He shared his life experiences with others and told some great stories. Some of my favorite memories of Merle was spending time with him after work and having dinner together, Bob Evans and Horton's. He loved cake! We had the best time at the Mall of America one day, relaxing after work. He made sure we all got our custom made scarves, made by Mom with love. Merle loved Christmas and Christmas markets and would count the days! We will keep him in our prayers. He lives on in our hearts!
