Monte F. Mayer

Monte F. Mayer age 72, went to his heavenly home on March 4, 2025. Monte was the son of the late Walter F. and Joanne (Ullrey) Mayer. He married his childhood sweetheart, Rebecca Jean on August 29, 1980. They were happily married for 44 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Monte is survived by his devoted wife Rebecca; daughter Nicole (James) Sackenheim; son Brandon (Rose) Mayer; grandchildren Tyler (Nicole) Wilson, Jordan (Jennifer) Wilson, Keith Mayer, Avery Mayer, and Jaxson Sackenheim; 2 great grandchildren Arya and Cooper; and his two sisters Billie Jo Cole and Marianne (Brian) Hildreth and many other family members and close friends. Monte was Vice President of Columbia Federal Savings and Loan for many years before starting his law enforcement career with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Sergeant Monte Mayer began his service with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the jail in 1992. He was later promoted to Detective before being promoted to Sergeant. Throughout his career he worked in various positions such as Crime Prevention, TRIAD (a senior program) Public Information Officer, Supervisor of Finance and Personnel, Civil Foreclosures, CCW, SORN, the Records Department, Court Services and worked closely with ICE for transportation of federal inmates/detainees. Monte was loyal and dedicated to the Sheriff’s Office and his community for more than 22 years. He was an accomplished piano player and he loved playing for his grandchildren and great grandchildren, letting them play along. He loved golfing with his golf buddies. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his wife and family, swimming, and playing board games. He never missed any of his grandchildren’s sports or school events. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially their 25th anniversary cruise. Monte will be forever missed by his family but they will cherish all the memories they made together.
