Sandra "Sandy" Sue Egbert

SANDRA SUE “SANDY” EGBERT, age 73, peacefully went to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Sandy was born May 2, 1949, in Hamilton, OH to Henry George and Sara Jean Garland Egbert. She was Aunt Sandy to hundreds of children over the years. Sandy’s love for children was foremost in her life. Although she had none of her own, her nieces and nephews were the first beneficiaries of her generosity, kindness, and unconditional love. Beginning with her sister’s first child, she took charge of teaching them the love of Jesus and taking them to church. For the next 50+ years she would be guide and mentor not only to children in her family, but to any child she met. She began teaching Sunday School when she was a teenager and continued until her health prevented her from it. She had a way of bringing the Bible to life for children and adults. Christmas plays, Vacation Bible School, children’s choir, picnics, and special activities were all part of serving her Lord and children. Her soothing voice, gentle touch and smile could calm the most irritated child. For those most mischievous she had a special word, “If you don’t behave, I will kiss you all over your face.” Sandy was not teasing, she would and did do it to those who pushed the limit, and they loved it. For some children it was the only affection they received. How many lives did Sandy influence for Jesus? Only God knows! God’s Word was her heart and life. She willingly gave time and resources to those in need. She would stay up at night to prepare a meal for a family in need, and then go to work early the next morning. She would give her last few dollars to someone hungry or a missionary traveling through the area and ‘make do’ until payday. Sandy loved sewing, singing, cooking, baking, crafts, swimming and of course, fishing. She loved life and lived it well with Jesus as her Guide, her Lighthouse. Sandy leaves a big hole in the hearts of many, but we are comforted knowing that she is in Heaven; a master teacher sitting at the Master’s feet. She is exactly where she has longed to be her whole life. A memorial service will be held for Sandy, 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 29th, 2023, at the Edgewood Baptist Church in Trenton, OH. Pastor Mike Carmody will officiate.
